Objectives of the Course/Dersin amacı: To learn graphic communication, graphic design, design process and principle; graphic design historic, graphic desing creativity; basic design elements in graphic; graphic design application (tipographic communication, graphic symbols ,emblem, symbols mark, logo and trademark, poster design); basic graphic information (pixel, compression, formatting election, resolution); graphic draw program (Photoshop, Fireworks) (toolbox, layers, filters, effects), animation, script programming, principle use of animation in education; instruction software development using animation.

  • Ability to write correct and polite business letters to all of your professors. An example can be found here. You may also refer to the book "How to Say It" which provides clear and practical guidance for what to say and what not to say in any situation.

Weekly Plan for Lab lessons

1-7 weeks: raster and vector graphics software (Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, Adobe InDesign)
  • Creating high-quality and aesthetic images for educational purposes (posters etc);
  • Creating aesthetic vector shapes (for example, fonts);
  • Designing book covers;
  • Designing handouts;
  • Designing conference programs;
  • Designing educational posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers and books in Adobe InDesign. Publishing content suitable for tablet devices in conjunction with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.
9-15 weeks: animation software (Anime Studio, Adobe Flash, Toon Boom)
  • Creating animations for educational purposes (quasi-realistic animations);
  • Creating advertisements and banners;
  • Creating flash animations for educational purposes and broadcast;
  • Studying ActionScript;
  • Creating cartoons in ToonBoom.
  • Creating animations of real world objects and processes in ToonBoom (biology, mechanics etc).
Grading Plan
  • Labs: 50%
  • Midterm: 15%
  • Final: 35%
